Profile

Mr. Md. Mahbub-ul-Alam joined BIAM Foundation as Director General on 14 June 2023. Prior to this, he served as Additional Secretary in the Posts and Telecommunications Division. Prior to this, he was working as Member Directing Staff (MDS) in BCS (Administration) Academy.

Mr. Md. Mahbub-ul-Alam was born on May 01, 1968 in Chandpur district. He obtained Honors and Masters Degree in Islamic History from Islamic University. He later obtained a Masters in Governance and Development Studies from BRAC University, Bangladesh. He also participated in Local Government and Professional Development Program at Uppsala University, Sweden and Macquarie University, Australia.

He joined the Bangladesh Civil Service (Administration) Cadre in April 1993 as a member of BCS eleventh batch. At the field level, he served as Assistant Commissioner and Magistrate, Assistant Commissioner (Land), Revenue Deputy Collector and Upazila Executive Officer. He also served as Deputy Secretary, Joint Secretary and Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Science And Information & Communications Technology, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Communications and Posts and Telecommunications Division.

Mr. Md. Mahbub-ul-Alam traveled to various countries including USA, UK, Australia, South Africa, South Korea, Switzerland, Brazil, Sweden, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore as part of official duties. He was a member of the management of Bangladesh Telecommunication Company Ltd. (BTCL) and Bangladesh Satellite Company Ltd. (BSCL).
